The conditions for it were formed in the Kaluga, Bryansk, Smolensk, Oryol, Kursk, Belgorod, Astrakhan and Lipetsk regions, as well as in the Crimea and the Krasnodar Territory.
In these regions, according to the scientist, the amount of precipitation was significantly lower than normal. In most areas, no more than 35%. In the Astrakhan region - 26%, and in the Crimea - 25%.
- The deficit is noticeable, it is especially well traced in the Southern Federal District. These regions are already arid ... Conditions are forming for soil drought. After all, we are talking about productive moisture, which nourishes the roots of shrubs, trees and promotes the vegetation of crops: both winter crops, which were sown long ago in the fall, and spring crops, which were just sown. This is a worrying factor, Wilfand admitted in an interview with TASS .
The Ministry of Emergencies shares the scientist’s fears. The first deputy head of the department, Alexander Chupriyan, told Rossiyskaya Gazeta that the drought awaits the regions of the European part of the country.
“We believe that in connection with the current situation, we can expect an increase in the number of tornadoes, as well as other dangerous convective phenomena, including showers, hail, squalls,” said Chupriyan, adding that this is due to an increase in temperature and humidity.
He specified that dangerous natural phenomena begin to occur where they did not exist before.
However, meteorologists are not yet ready to give a final forecast for yield. May decide everything - this is a key month during which the threat of drought can be reduced. For this, a sufficient amount of precipitation should fall in May.
Earlier, the Hydrometeorological Center predicted a record hot summer season.
- In Russia, probably the year will not be the hottest in history, but certainly by the height of the air temperature it will almost certainly be in the TOP 5 of the hottest seasons, perhaps it will take the second or third line of the rating, Villefand said.
