The Joint Chiefs of Staff of the South Korean Armed Forces indicated that it detected a launch from the Sunan area in Pyongyang at 12:03 local time (6:03 Moscow time).
“Our military is monitoring related movements and maintaining a state of readiness,” the Yonhap news agency quoted the South Korean military as saying.
Earlier, the deputy director of the propaganda and agitation department of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of the DPRK, Kim Jong-un Kim Yo-jong, said that North Korea opposes the war, but if South Korea attacks it, then Pyongyang will not hesitate to use nuclear weapons.
Note that the launch was made a few days before the inauguration of South Korean President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol, who is due to take office on May 10.
In 2022, Pyongyang conducted 14 launches. The previous one took place on April 16.
