New Russian submarines and cruise missiles pose a "serious problem" for the United States, US Air Force Lieutenant General Glen Van Herk said.

The lieutenant general believes that the rivals and adversaries of the United States have observed how the country behaves during conflicts, how it "exercises containment" and how it "competes".

"They had the opportunity to develop, watching us, in particular from Russia and China, in all areas. Russia is developing strategic capabilities, such as submarines, which are now a serious problem to track”, - RIA Novosti quoted Herk as saying at a Senate hearing.

He stressed that modern submarines allow Russian cruise missiles to threaten US territory, and this is a "serious problem".

The military pointed out that China and its armed forces are following the same path, which can act as expeditionary forces, that is, far from their territory.

Yesterday, the US Senate Armed Services Committee discussed Hurk's candidacy for the position of commander of the US Northern Command (NORTHCOM).

Earlier, the United States, along with Great Britain, expressed concerns about Russia's testing of anti-satellite weapons. These are satellites that can destroy other satellites in orbit.

We also note that the Chinese press highly appreciated the quality of the new Russian intercontinental missiles, which are capable of breaking through the US anti-missile system.
