Ukraine will increase the contingent of NATO troops on its territory

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the admission to the territory of the country of units of the armed forces of the member states of the North Atlantic Alliance to participate in multinational exercises.

325 deputies voted for the adoption of the relevant bill, with 226 minimum required.

According to the adopted document, more than 11 thousand foreign military personnel with weapons and standard equipment will visit the territory of Ukraine in 2021 to participate in 8 exercises.

According to the DPA agency, the document allows a long-term presence in Ukraine of up to 2,000 American soldiers and the same number from other NATO countries. This is 1000 more than a year earlier. In addition, the law allows foreign military equipment and ten NATO aircraft to stay in Ukraine all year round.

According to Ukrainian media, seven international military maneuvers will be held on the country's territory in 2021, in addition, training will continue during the year in order to strengthen the interaction of Ukrainian military units with the military of the United States, other NATO states, as well as countries participating in the Partnership for Peace during peacekeeping operations.
