Without further ado: over a thousand protesters detained in Moscow

From the very first minutes of the action, the security forces have shown unprecedented determination.

More precisely, the space inside the perimeter of the Kremlin embankment, Mokhovaya street, Teatralny and Lubyansky proezd, as well as adjacent streets are closed for passage and passage. The entrance and exit of the metro stations Aleksandrovsky Sad, Okhotny Ryad, Teatralnaya, Ploshchad Revolyutsii, Kuznetskiy Most, Lubyanka, Kitay-Gorod do not work - their trains pass without stops. At the same time, transitions from station to station for transfers are also impossible. Surface transport will also be allowed to take a detour - 24 bus routes.

In addition, all cafes, restaurants and shops are closed on the "besieged" territory. The restrictions will remain in effect until further notice from the police, the Interior Ministry said in a statement. It also contains a warning - for calls and participation in unauthorized rallies, liability is provided, up to criminal.

From early in the morning, the center is flooded with communal special equipment, police cars and paddy wagons are hidden in the courtyards. Pushkinskaya Square is closed. Manezhnaya Square is completely fenced. The passage to Red Square is closed. At the same time, journalists are allowed to enter the Lubyanka and no one interferes with live broadcasts.

As Ekho Moskvy radiostation notes, the city authorities are introducing restrictions of such a scale for the first time in order to prevent a protest action from being held.

On January 23, before the first protest rally, there were no such restrictions in Moscow. Then, following the results of the performances, about two thousand people were detained. After the actions, more than 20 criminal cases were opened throughout the country. Over one and a half dozen searches have already been carried out.

The Telegram channel Life Shot, citing a law enforcement source, reports that those detained at the Moscow unauthorized rally on January 31 will be taken to Ryazan, Tula, Smolensk and Kaluga police stations due to the fact that the capital's isolation wards may be overcrowded with detained citizens. However, there was no official confirmation of this information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

In addition, in Moscow, metro stations can be “ad hoc” closed at the request of the police, reported in the Department of Transportation At 11 o'clock the station "Chistye Prudy", which was not originally planned to be closed, was closed at the exit of passengers.

It became known that the police bypassed the still working establishments in the center of Moscow and asked to turn off access to Wi-Fi for visitors.

At 11.30, even before the start of the protest action, three people had already been detained at Chistye Prudy. One of the detainees ended up in a paddy wagon just for being a visitor from Voronezh.

On Trubnaya Square, passers-by are also stopped and bags are inspected.

In addition to riot police, police and Rosgvardia, "vigilantes" were also spotted on the streets of Moscow - strong men in civilian clothes and with red bandages on their sleeves. What kind of people they are and what tasks they perform, they do not say.

At 11.50, mass detentions of citizens began on Sukharevskaya Square. Without further ado or any warnings, the security forces are taking almost everyone who comes into their field of vision to the paddy wagons. Observers note the demonstrative rigidity of their actions. First of all, they grab young people aged 18 and older.

Meanwhile, an interesting phrase, which has never been at a protest rally before, is repeated over the loudspeaker from the riot police: "By staying here, you are breaking the law".

That is, not only the organizers of the unauthorized action are considered "violators of the law", not only those who show aggression towards the security forces or demonstrate slogans, but EVERYONE standing in the square.

As political scientist Fyodor Krasheninnikov noted in an interview with Dozhd, this means that the entire system of laws on rallies, adopted by the State Duma, de facto does not work.

At 12.29, the Moscow mayor's office estimated the number of protests in the center of Moscow at 300 people, TASS reported with reference to the press service of the regional security department.

By 13 o'clock, events moved towards Komsomolskaya Square, where protesters moved from Sukharevskaya and Red Gate. The security forces, in turn, began to redeploy units.

After 2 pm, a significant part of the citizens "walking" in Moscow headed towards Sokolniki and the Matrosskaya Tishina prison. In one of the courtyards, the crowd even managed to remove the gate.

Yulia Navalnaya was soon detained. She was dragged into a blue minivan by a group of "astronauts".

At 2.30 pm, the police blocked Rusakovskaya Street. The direct route to the "Matrosskaya Tishina" was thus closed. However, lone individuals who have made their way to the goal are being detained near the prison itself. The media showed a unique picture: among the detainees was a man with a biggle dog. The dog, along with the owner, jumped into the paddy wagon.

Because of the chains of security officials blocking the approaches, it is almost impossible to approach SIZO-1 (Detention center № 1).

The well-known journalist Sergei Parkhomenko informs Dozhd that the paddy wagons are overcrowded. In the "loaf" where Parkhomenko is located, there are 18 people packed in a compartment two by two meters.

Meanwhile, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow reported that the number of participants in the unauthorized rally was "about 2,000 people, including media workers". Which clearly contradicts the footage of the live broadcasts that the TV companies conduct from the scene. And it is impossible to count the people who walk along different streets and courtyards.

At 4 pm it became obvious that the column of protesters, which could not get through to the Matrosskaya Tishina, turned back towards Komsomolskaya Square.
