The company, which is considered one of the planet's main polluters of plastic waste, will release a batch of 2,000 bottles of AdeZ, made of paper and plastic.

Last year, Coca-Cola ranked third in the world for plastic pollution, ahead of Nestle and PepsiCo. However, the company's management is hatching plans to make it environmentally neutral by 2030, completely switching to harmless packaging. The first batch of AdeZ plant-based drink in a prototype paper bottle will be on sale this summer, according to the Daily Mail. It will be available in Hungary, where it will be distributed through the local online retailer Kifli.hu.

The prototype, which Danish start-up Paper Bottle is still working on, will be made from sustainable wood, manufactured in a way that does not allow liquids or gases to pass through. This will be achieved due to the fact that the bottle will be molded from a single piece of paper fiber. Due to the absence of seams, the material will be strong enough to withstand a pressurized beverage and not break. At the same time, the bottle will not be 100% paper, the lid and the "backing" will still be made of plastic - but recycled and recyclable polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Coca-Cola executives say they are also working on an all-paper bottle that can be recycled.

Last year, the vodka maker Absolut for sale in the UK and Sweden released 2,000 prototype paper bottles made up of 57% paper and 43% recycled plastic. The Danish brewery Carlsberg develops paper bottles made from environmentally friendly wood fibers suitable for liquids.
