A procession of the Cross with the relics of St. John the Russian in one of the Greek cities engulfed in flames caused a saving rain.

Real miracles are being reported on social media from the flaming Greek island of Euboea. There, forest fires devour one settlement after another, forcing the inhabitants to flee to the beaches, from where they are evacuated by sea to other parts of the country. On August 7, the front of the fire exceeded 6 kilometers, and on August 8, the fire burst into Vasilika, so that 2000 inhabitants of the island had to be urgently taken away by ferry.

A real nightmare is experienced by the inhabitants of mountain villages, to which the fire sometimes returns several times, since the wind changes direction all the time. The island is experiencing electrical problems that severely hamper communications. Today, 246 firefighters, 10 ground groups, 66 vehicles, 2 helicopters and an aircraft are fighting there. Another 100 firefighters came to help from Ukraine, the coast guard, and the infantry units of the Greek army, and volunteers are helping, but according to the island's authorities, there is still not enough strength.

And now, in the midst of this nightmare, the inexplicable happens: in the town of Novy Prokopion, where his relics are kept in the church of St. John the Russian, an order for evacuation was announced. However, the rector of the temple, Elder Fr. Nikolaos Vernezos, together with the community, decided to hold a religious procession, believing that the saint would give them salvation. And for sure: during the procession a cloud appeared in the sky and it started to rain!..

John, a Russian Zaporozhye Cossack by origin, lived and preached in Turkey, where he won honor and respect both among Christians and Muslims. Several miracles during his lifetime are attributed to him. But after death, it still remains "in force". For example, in 1832 the Turks wanted to destroy the relics of this saint, opened his tomb, lit a fire and put the remains there. The next day, the relics were again in the church. The Turks tried to repeat the procedure, but then John the Russian himself with a menacing look stood in the middle of the fire and with a gesture and words threatened the adversaries. They scattered and the relics remained in the temple. "And here is a new miracle of this saint in a fire-engulfed Greece!", - eyewitnesses report.
