The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, in a telephone interview with the German newspaper Welt, said that Russia's demands on the non-expansion of the EU and NATO are "a purely Russian agenda with completely unacceptable conditions."

During the interview, he also noted that Moscow is going to negotiate a European security architecture without the participation of the European Union, calling it absurd. According to the politician, this is unacceptable.

"The requirements of security guarantees and termination of NATO and EU enlargement to the east - a purely Russian agenda with absolutely unacceptable conditions, especially with regard to Ukraine", - "RIA Novosti" quotes diplomat's statements.

Borrell pointed out that Russia submitted the agenda in text, in the form of a treaty, and that, in his opinion, only the winners do this. He stressed that this has never happened.

According to "Kommersant", the diplomat said the need to address violations of the Helsinki agreement, rather than discuss the non-expansion of NATO and the EU to the east.

“We disagree with many developments in Russian foreign policy, as well as with some events that Moscow considers to be internal affairs”, - Borrell said.

Earlier, the media reported that on January 10, Russia and the United States will discuss nuclear arms control and the situation around Ukraine, on January 12, Russia-NATO talks will take place, and on January 13, a meeting between Russia and the OSCE is scheduled.
