This is not just another joke of the Panorama news agency, but real Russian news of the 21st century: the State Duma is working to create an inter-factional working group to protect Christian values, Interfax reported.
According to him, it is being formed for the sake of consolidating the efforts of the deputies and the Russian Orthodox Church in legislative work and upholding traditional values. The blessing of Patriarch Kirill (Gundyaev) has already been received for the creation and work of the group. The group is expected to be headed by the vice-speaker, United Russia member Pyotr Tolstoy.
It should be noted that a similar group worked in the previous convocations of the State Duma. Elena Mizulina stood at its origins. It is not yet clear what the people's representatives will do in it. Apparently, to protect the feelings of believers from insults.
Political scientist Konstantin Kalachev logically advises the regional parliaments to do the same, so to speak, "according to their interests":
“Since values are in need of protection, then there are enemies. And it is unlikely in the understanding of the deputies that they are Islamists. Atheists-atheists, blasphemers of creative professions, liberals, yes Ukraine. Here is, perhaps, the whole list. One could also include America in the list of threats, where more than 80 percent of Christians are Christians, but mostly Protestants. As Naum Korzhavin said: "America is a country of applied Christianity." Our deputies will also enlighten Christian America with its wrong values. But they will probably start with Ukraine, with its conflict between the UOC (Moscow Patriarchate) and the OCU (Patriarchate of Constantinople). We wait.
For pluralism, there are not enough similar working groups under the parliaments of Chechnya, Dagestan, Tatarstan, etc. for the protection of Islamic values. In Buryatia and Kalmykia, the values of Buddhism, in Yakutia - Tengrianism, in Tuva - Buddhism and shamanism..."
Political scientist Abbas Gallyamov reminds Vice-Speaker Tolstoy one simple thought: the highest Christian value is love:
“Remember how the Pharisee lawyer asked Jesus: “Which is the first of all the commandments?” And received the answer: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is similar to it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the law and the prophets are established on these two commandments".
Separately, it is worth clarifying that this commandment also applies to foreign agents: “When a stranger settles in your land, do not oppress him. The stranger who has taken up residence with you, let it be to you the same as your native; love him as you love yourself; for you also were strangers in the land of Egypt. " (...)
In general, it is necessary to convey all this to Tolstoy, otherwise, as if he did not understand something else, did not begin to defend anything else.
Let him remember: "He who does not love has not known God, because God is love".
