The work of all banks, except for the national one, as well as the stock exchange in Kazakhstan is temporarily suspended, a state of emergency is in force in the country.

According to TASS, citing data from the press secretary of the National Bank of the country, Olzhas Ramazanov, the decision to temporarily suspend the activities of all financial organizations was made by the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the Regulation and Development of the Financial Market and the National Bank of Kazakhstan.

The reason was the introduction of a state of emergency in the country and the conduct of counter-terrorist operations. In the country, the Internet has been disrupted, online payments have been stopped, people in a panic withdraw money through ATMs.

According to Ramazanov, the work of all financial organizations in Kazakhstan was suspended on January 6.

“The Agency and the National Bank urge citizens and the media to trust only official sources of information”, - he said.

It became known yesterday that Kazakhstan was engulfed in mass protests, riots and pogroms. In cities and regions, a curfew was introduced from 11 pm to 7 am. Residents were forbidden to leave their homes, as well as to participate in public events. Entry and exit from these territories is also prohibited.

During clashes with police, at least 500 people were injured. Previously, it was reported about 200 victims, most of whom were security officials.
