Russian President Vladimir Putin this year did not take traditional Epiphany Dip in Icy water. This was announced by his press secretary Dmitry Peskov.

"This year, the president chose to heed the recommendations of church representatives and not to plunge into the Epiphany ice hole due to the pandemic", - Dmitry Peskov commented. His words are quoted by Interfax.

Dmitry Peskov was also asked if the president's children and grandchildren were baptized. When asked about the grandchildren, the press secretary could not answer, saying that he had no "powers and intentions to invade the president's personal space". At the same time, the press secretary himself noted that his wife, Tatyana Navka, and the children were baptized.

It's worth reminding that on the eve of Epiphany, Epiphany bathing was canceled in a number of regions. This decision of the local authorities was explained by the increase in the number of cases. In Magnitogorsk, the authorities decided to let people into the ice hole only if they have QR-codes. Without them, participants in Epiphany bathing after diving will not be able to warm themselves in warm rooms.
