Scientists from the well-known American Institute of Public Opinion Gallup summed up the results of another study. Contrary to popular belief that almost all Americans are unspiritual, the number of believers in the United States per capita is about the same as in Russia. And just like in our country it falls every year. Today, 81% of US citizens say they believe in God, according to Gallup, which is a historical anti-record. For example, in the 1940s and 60s, there were only 2% of them! In 2011, there were already 8% of them, and in 2017 even more - 13%.
At the same time, scientists note that religiosity still strongly influences the political views of Americans. For example, among Democrats and liberals there are only 72% and 62% of believers, respectively, while conservatives and Republicans have traditionally 93% of believers.
