The first president of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev, died after a serious illness. He was 91 years old. Gorbachev died at the Central Clinical Hospital on the evening of 30 August.

According to the telegram channel Mash, on the eve of his death, he arrived at the Central Clinical Hospital for hemodialysis - Gorbachev had kidney problems. The ex-general secretary died in the special department of the hospital.
