Beat and cut. Sharia law returns to Afghanistan

15 ноября 2022, 09:15
Taliban leader Haibatullah Akhundzada ordered Afghan judges to impose punishments in accordance with Sharia law, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said in a blog post. These punishments include, inter alia, stoning, cutting off limbs and public executions.

As you know, the Taliban * came to power in Afghanistan again in 2021, and promised citizens that they would pursue a softer domestic policy than it was in the previous period - in 1996-2001, when public executions were the norm.

Now, Afghan judges should take a closer look at the details of the crime of thieves and rioters in order to identify signs of violation of sacred Islamic laws in them.

In addition, since November of this year, Afghan women have already been banned from visiting amusement parks, either alone or with children or other family members. A spokesman for the Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and the Eradication of Vice argued the ban by saying that there were cases of women wearing the hijab in an "improper" form in amusement parks.

*recognized as terrorist and banned on the territory of the Russian Federation
