The Chinese payment system Unionpay has introduced daily and annual limits on cash withdrawals from its cards issued by banks of the Russian Federation. Restrictions apply to cashing out outside of Russia.

"UnionPay has introduced a limit on cash withdrawals abroad using cards of Russian banks. The limit on cash withdrawals abroad is 50 thousand yuan (about 507 thousand rubles) per day or 500 thousand yuan per year (or the equivalent of this amount in another currency) for each card"б - the source told RIA Novosti.The publication clarifies that at the moment, according to the list on its website, several banks of the Russian Federation issue cards of this payment system, among which are "Post Bank", "Primsotsbank", "Gazprombank", "RSHB", "Russian Standard" and "MTS Bank".

The reason for the introduction of restrictions is not specified.The introduction of limits was confirmed in Primorye Bank, specifying that the restrictions apply to all Russian issuers of payment system cards when cashing out outside the country.

"We inform you that the UnionPay payment system has introduced restrictions for all Russian banks on cash withdrawals outside the Russian Federation.

If it is necessary to withdraw cash from ATMs in excess of the established limit, we recommend that you issue an additional UnionPay card," the message on the Primorye Bank website says.
