Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen said at the inauguration ceremony that the authorities of the Jewish state intend to "talk less publicly" about Ukraine. At the same time, the country will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to Kiev.

"We will do one thing for sure about Russia and Ukraine — we will speak less publicly," Cohen said (quoted by TASS).According to the minister, his department will prepare a detailed report on the situation in Ukraine for the Israeli Cabinet.

Based on the data provided, a "responsible policy" in this direction will be formed. "In any case, we will continue to provide significant humanitarian assistance to Ukraine", - the Israeli Foreign Minister said.

As RIA Novosti notes, the minister did not comment on Kiev's requests for the provision of weapons.

Cohen also intends to contact his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov. The Times of Israel publication suggests that a conversation between the Foreign Ministers of Israel and the Russian Federation may take place on January 3.

The new Israeli government was sworn in on December 29.

It was headed by the leader of the Likud party, Benjamin Netanyahu, who served as prime Minister in the periods 1996-1999 and 2009-2021.
