"Without fulfilling the obligations assumed to us, the ratification of the protocol is impossible. In the current conditions, it is not necessary to talk about the approval of this document," he said.

According to the diplomat, Turkey will be ready to return to the conversation on this issue after Sweden fulfills its obligations. The country has fewer questions about Finland's membership in NATO. "We have said before that we are positive about this country's membership in NATO. But the alliance wants to approve the entry of these countries at the same time. If there is a decision to divide the applications and consider them separately, then our position will be more positive with regard to Finland", - Mevlut Cavusoglu added.

Recall that the countries simultaneously applied for membership in the North Atlantic Alliance in the spring of last year. Turkey has not ratified the accession of these countries to the alliance. The country insists on the extradition of members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, which is recognized as a terrorist in the country. Party members are hiding in Finland and Sweden.

In January of this year, the process of Sweden's accession to NATO was suspended. The decision was made after a protest action with the burning of the Koran at the Turkish embassy. The action was organized by the politician Rasmus Paludan, who said that he would continue to burn Korans until the country was accepted into NATO.
