Ministry of Natural Resources: sanctions violated waste disposal in Russia

According to the calculations of the statistical department, the volume of waste disposal and processing of secondary raw materials in the country fell by 13.9% over the year.

As the Ministry of Natural Resources commented, the waste recycling process in the country was largely dependent on foreign technologies, equipment and materials, and their supplies were violated during the sanctions.

"The commonly used materials and technologies had to be replaced with domestic ones," the report says.

In order to convince domestic entrepreneurs to engage in waste recycling, the government adopted a resolution establishing from January 1, 2023 a mandatory share of recyclables used in the production of a number of goods.

After an emergency with birds getting into aircraft engines, the authorities ordered the owners of all landfills located near airports to conduct an ornithological survey of objects. If it turns out that the landfill is poorly protected from birds, its owners will be obliged to correct the situation within six months. And then provide the results of a new survey.

Earlier it was reported that the examination prohibited arranging a landfill near Kostroma, where the boundaries of the projected landfill fell into the sanitary zone of the Sokerkino airport and affected the protective zone of proven reserves of clean groundwater for drinking purposes.

Experts decided that, despite the repellents promised by the investor, hordes of birds will be able to violate flight safety, and the proximity of the landfill to the springs increases the risk of poisoning of groundwater with harmful substances.
