The jury found Sergey Furgal guilty of organizing contract killings

Sergey Furgal was found guilty of all three episodes that do not deserve leniency. This verdict was announced by the jury in the Moscow Regional Court. She found the defendant Andrey Karepov guilty of preparing crimes, and Marat Kadyrov and Andrey Paley in their execution.

"Guilty", - the foreman of the jury announced, answering the relevant question.

To the question of whether Sergey Furgal is guilty of the fact that no later than April 2004, in his office in Khabarovsk, he colluded with business partner Nikolai Mistryukov and Andrey Karepov "in order to organize the murder of Smolsky", the board replied in the affirmative". 

The wording of the episode about illegal arms trafficking sounded like this: "unidentified weapons purchased in an unidentified place, from unidentified persons, were transported on an unidentified transport". Verdict - guilty. According to the episode, however, the statute of limitations has come out.

The defendants applauded during the announcement of the verdict.

"The jury should be ashamed", - commented Sergey Furgal.

In total, the questionnaire for the jury contains 32 questions, divided into four groups of eight questions each. It took the jury four hours to reach a verdict.

The case was heard by the Lyubertsy court of the Moscow region with the participation of a jury in a visiting format in the building of the Moscow Regional Court in Krasnogorsk. Before that, during the debate of the parties, the state prosecutors asked the assessors to find all the defendants guilty and not deserving of leniency. The defense insisted on the acquittal of the defendants.

On the eve of the former governor spoke in court with the last word. During his speech, Judge Gennady Tsoi repeatedly interrupted Sergey Furgal and even announced a break, saying that the defendant needed to calm down.

"Since we are talking about facts, here is a fact for you: how many witnesses were there [at the trial] from the defense side? More than 100 people were reported, and two were [interrogated]. All the evidence is hidden, all the evidence is hidden, witnesses are not allowed. And how can I defend myself in such conditions?", - Sergey Furgal said in his last word.

He stressed that he had already passed a "big school", but those who will make a decision on his case will have something more serious - it "depends on them whether these people [the accused] will live or not." The former head of the region recalled that "tens of thousands of people" are for him.

Sergey Furgal is accused of attempted murder, he categorically does not admit guilt, he is sure that a criminal case against him was initiated illegally.

It should be noted that in the Khabarovsk Territory from the day of Sergey Furgal's arrest - June 9, 2020 - to this day, actions in support of him are held daily.
