The fact that the bloc will hold exercises in Romania in the spring to test the possibility of converting its combat group in the country into a brigade, NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Joane said in an interview with Agerpress.
"I would like to welcome the fact that France and other allies, together with the host country Romania, are preparing very seriously in order to create conditions for this combat group to be brought to the brigade level, if necessary," the alliance leader said, adding that this "will be tested during the exercises that we will hold in Romania this spring".
Recall that Romania borders Moldova, where NATO is currently expanding its influence. In addition, the Moldovan special services stated that a coup was being prepared in the country. President Maia Sandu pointed out that it was planned to attract people from other countries to implement this plan, and the opposition, including the Shor party, was involved in the attempt to negotiate.
Earlier, the government of the country, headed by Natalia Gavrilitsa, resigned.
