The guilty verdict was handed down by the 2nd Western District Military Court.
Popov was detained in July 2022 by employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Yaroslavl region during an attempt to set fire to the military enlistment office on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services. He tried to carry out his plan with the help of molotov cocktails of his own manufacture.
Before that, in social networks, he called for the commission of various crimes against the participants of the special operation, and also declared his intention to carry out sabotage on railway tracks and a terrorist attack against the military enlistment office of the Uglich and Myshkin districts.
The press service of the administration of the Uglich district noted that during the consideration of the criminal case, Popov admitted his guilt in full and repented of what he had done.
