The press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov commented on the situation around the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. He expressed deep regret that this situation has not been properly condemned by the international community.

"Once again I would like to express my deep regret that these illegal actions of the Kiev regime do not receive proper condemnation from the international community. We condemn them in the strongest possible way", - the press secretary of the Russian president commented.

He added that the Kiev regime, by its encroachment on the church, "once again demonstrated its character". "The very character that we are fighting, which we must stop as a result of the operation that is taking place", - Dmitry Peskov commented. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

Earlier, the Ukrainian authorities ordered the priests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate to leave the Kiev Pechersk Lavra by March 29. By this day, the contract with the Church on the lease of state property on the territory of this monastery will be terminated. The monks refused to leave the lavra.

In November last year, the lavra was searched. Pro-Russian books were found there.
