On Friday evening, it was reported that prisoners in a strict regime colony No. 15 in Angarsk staged a riot during which they set fire to production facilities. It was also reported that there were serious clashes between the prisoners and the FSIN special forces.
The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on the disorganization of the activities of the correctional institution. According to investigators, on April 9, during a hang-up, one of the prisoners "did not comply with the requirements of the colony staff" and began to "use obscene language against them." Several convicts at the time inflicted bodily harm, as well as an employee of the institution suffered from unlawful actions of the latter.
As the Dozhd TV channel reported , on the eve of the riot in the colony, one of the prisoners recorded a video message in which he complained of being beaten by the colony officer. In the video, he said that he was beaten in the stomach and strangled, because of this he later cut his veins in protest. But after learning about the video, the colony officer returned and beat him again.
After that, already 17 people also cutting their veins, and other convicts staged arson in the colony’s working premises - at a sawmill and pig farm, as well as in the duty unit. A strong fire swept almost the entire colony.
According to the mother of one of the convicts, special forces officers opened fire to suppress the riot of prisoners. Human rights activist Pavel Glushchenko said that force was indeed used against prisoners. According to him, up to 300 special forces soldiers were involved in pacifying the rebellion.
