Julian Assange fathered two sons while he was holed up at the Ecuadorean embassy

Julian Assange secretly fathered two sons while he was holed up at the Ecuadorean embassy in London.

Assange's bride Stella Morris said that she began a relationship with the founder of Wikileaks in 2015, and now she raises their children, writes the BBC Russian Service.

Morris said she met Assange in 2011 when she started working for his team of lawyers. The following year, he took refuge in the British capital, in the Ecuadorian embassy, fleeing extradition to Sweden, where a case of sexual harassment was opened against him (now it has been withdrawn). Morris admitted that she visited him almost daily, and after two years of the beginning of their close relationship, they became engaged.

Assange watched the births of both of his sons by video link, and subsequently Stella Morris and the boys visited Assange at the embassy. Now, three-year-old Gabriel and one-year-old Max regularly communicate with his father via video communication.

- It was a conscious decision to give birth to children to destroy these four walls around him and imagine life outside this prison. While for many it seems crazy - to create a family in such conditions - for us it was the only reasonable way to keep in touch with reality. It gives me stability, and when Julian sees children, it gives him a sense of peace, tenderness and care. Children grow up very happy, Morris said.

She told about this before the anniversary of the arrest of Assange. Morris admitted that she is afraid of the spread of coronavirus among prisoners in Belmarsh prison, where her father is her children. According to official figures, symptoms of coronavirus were found in more than a thousand British prisoners. And one of those infected in Belmarsh died.

Assange recently petitioned to release him on bail for health reasons. Morris stated that his life is in danger - if Assange becomes infected with a coronavirus in prison, he is unlikely to survive.

Note that Assange has other children. Among them is Daniel Assange, he lives in Australia and is engaged in software development. Almost nothing is known about the other children.

Recall that in 2019 Assange was detained at the request of Washington. A London court found him guilty of violating bail conditions and sentenced him to 11 months in prison. At the end of May 2019, U.S. authorities charged Assange with 17 episodes of violation of the law on espionage and the disclosure of classified information. In February , hearings on the extradition of Julian Assange to the United States began in London (even then, lawyers assured that the health of their client was seriously undermined). If Assange is nevertheless extradited to the American side, he faces up to 175 years in prison.
