The suspension of the work of public transport throughout the republic on May 11 was explained by the Chechen authorities as an extension of the self-isolation regime.

“Throughout the holiday weekend, until May 11, 2020 inclusive, public transport in the region will not work. We ask you to observe the regime of self-isolation and stay at home, ”the republic’s Ministry of Transport and Communications reported on an Instagram page, TASS reports .

Last Thursday, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, extended the restrictions imposed by the pandemic on May 11, instructing the operational headquarters to tighten control over the movement of residents of the republic. He instructed the head of the republican Ministry of Internal Affairs to detain violators and fine them.

Also at a meeting of the staff, Kadyrov called for severe penalties for those who violated the regime of self-isolation.

"If they violate, it is necessary to tighten measures, to seize cars from those who just ride like that, let them sweep the streets, clean hospitals, and work," the head of the republic said. Earlier, Kadyrov suggested sending violators of the self-isolation regime to agricultural work.

At the end of March, a regime of self-isolation and a curfew from 20:00 to 08:00 were introduced in Chechnya. From April 13, the access regime was introduced in the republic. The pass can be obtained only for two hours with a specific indication of the time and day of exit to the store or pharmacy. To travel by car, a special pass is required, which is issued by the operational headquarters.

According to the latest data, in Chechnya, there are 504 cases of infection with coronavirus, seven of whom died.

In total, 114,431 cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in Russia, 1,169 patients died.
