St. Petersburg topped the rating of regions compiled by RBC in terms of quality of life, leaving Moscow behind. In compiling the rating, experts took into account the level of purchasing power, affordability of housing, the level of savings, provision of doctors and teaching staff, climatic zone, and other factors.

The capital remained in second place. The third place was taken by the Belgorod region. The fourth and fifth places were taken by the Moscow region and the Voronezh region.

The top 10 regions in terms of quality of life, according to the publication's research, also include the Kuban, Tyumen Region, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Nizhny Novgorod and Sverdlovsk Regions.

Kalmykia, Jewish Autonomous Region, Altai, Karachay-Cherkessia and Tyva were the outsiders.

Recall that a sociological study by the Romir holding showed that on average a Russian family of three needs to receive almost 76 thousand rubles a month to ensure a “normal standard of living”.

Note that according to Rosstat, the average monthly nominal accrued wages in the Russian economy as a whole in 2017 amounted to 39 thousand 144 rubles.
