Experts consider the vaccine against covid more dangerous than the disease itself

Constant reports of allegedly successful trials of Russian vaccines against coronavirus only confuse the situation and mislead the citizens.

As already reported, 17 vaccines against coronavirus are being developed in Russia today, and scientists are confident that the medicine will become available to citizens by the middle, and the production of the vaccine by private companies will begin in September.

For example, the First Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Ruslan Tsalikov announced the readiness of the first Russian vaccine against coronavirus and said that two groups of volunteers participated in the tests. The first one was discharged after control tests on July 15, the second - on the 20th. According to Tsalikov, scientists at the National Research Center have already given final assessments of the results of trials of a vaccine against coronavirus. The volunteers received immunity, antibodies developed in their bodies.

However, immediately after that, the Ministry of Health denied information about the end of the tests. Aleksey Kuznetsov, Assistant to the Minister of Health, noted that they have not yet been completed, but have only passed to the second stage. When it is over, the question of state registration of the vaccine will be raised.

All these contradictory information, supported by many media outlets, is not so much reassuring as it is stirring up public opinion, and the race to create a vaccine against coronavirus infection can create more problems than the disease itself, experts say. They note that the development of a medicine has turned from protecting health into a political game of world powers. And you don't have to expect something good from this.

In total, about 200 vaccines are currently being created in the world, and their development has been going on for more than five months, it began with tests on mice, and only then continued on volunteers.

In addition, there is also a material component to this problem: the cost of the vaccine. Experts believe that it will be a maximum of $ 40 per dose, TASS reports, and prices will depend on which drug works and where it will be produced.

So is it worth spending that kind of money on something unclear? Moreover, the scientists themselves warn against haste. So, on July 15, the head of the cell proliferation laboratory at the Institute of Molecular Biology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Pyotr Chumakov warned that vaccination can be dangerous. He explained that since scientists do not yet know the duration of immunity after COVID-19, vaccination becomes unpredictable.

And just yesterday, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, an outstanding Russian virologist Vitaly Zverev in an interview with the Public News Service stated that he would not be vaccinated against coronavirus and explained the reason for refusing vaccination:

"Never! Vaccination is out of the question yet. Absolutely accurate data must be obtained that this vaccine is, firstly, effective, and secondly, safe. And, in the end, it is necessary to determine the duration of immunity. While there is no such data, it is wrong to call for vaccination”, - the virologist emphasized.

According to him, we can talk seriously about vaccinations against coronavirus in a few years. If the development and testing of a vaccine is successful, it is likely that the drug will be ready by the end of 2021. And possibly even later, Zverev is convinced.

“The infection is not so bad as to cause fever. The mortality rate is low. It seems to me that the situation with vaccination is already moving into a political plane and has nothing to do with the fight against coronavirus itself”, - the academician concluded. Moreover, earlier Western experts said that the race to create a vaccine could be more dangerous than the coronavirus.
