Film director Nikita Mikhalkov on the day of his 75th birthday became the Hero of Labor. The decree awarding him the honorary title was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

As stated in the decree, the title was awarded for special services in the development of national culture.

“For special merits in the development of national culture, art and many years of fruitful work to award the title of Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation to Nikita Sergeyevich Mikhalkov - a film director, public figure, the city of Moscow”, - the Kremlin press service reports.

As noted by RBC, Mikhalkov is already a full Knight of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, three times winner of the State Prize of Russia and People's Artist of the RSFSR. The director also won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival (1994, for the film Burnt by the Sun), the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival (Urga - Territory of Love, 1991). “He began acting in films in the early 1960s (his first known role was in the film“ I Walk Through Moscow ”), and has been acting as a director since the 1970s (“At home among strangers, a stranger among friends”). For the film "Burnt by the Sun" in 1994 he received an Oscar”, - recalls Radio Liberty.

After the collapse of the USSR, Mikhalkov began to engage in politics, joined the party Our Home is Russia, among whose functionaries was also Putin. After Putin was elected president, Mikhalkov became his confidant. For six years, the TV channel Russia-1 aired Mikhalkov's program Besogon TV. However, in 2020, the release of a program entitled "Who has the state in his pocket?" was filmed from the channel's broadcast network. After that, Mikhalkov accused the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company of censorship, noting that his program dedicated to the coronavirus pandemic contained information about Bill Gates' allegedly existing plans to microchip people under the guise of vaccination.
