Tourists began to abandon domestic resorts in favor of Turkey

From today, June 22, air traffic between Russia and Turkey is resumed. Because of this, Russians began to refuse vouchers to domestic resorts in favor of Turkey.

"Russian resorts are changing, there are requests for this, but it is still difficult to estimate quantitatively and in shares", - RIA Novosti quotes the words of Maya Lomidze, executive director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia.

Tour operators themselves also admit that tourists are interested in changing directions from Russian to Turkish resorts. But so far this process is not widespread. Because rebooking a ticket from Russia to Turkey is problematic and often the tourist needs to pay the actual costs incurred.

At the same time, market players noted that tickets to Turkey have risen in price by at least 20% after the resumption of flights. "The price tag is already well over 100 thousand rubles [for a 10-day tour for two to a five-star hotel with a flight from Moscow], and it is constantly growing, because the demand is huge," says the interlocutor of RBC. Nevertheless, holidays in Russia are still more expensive than in Turkey, where "all inclusive".

The average bill for a week-long tour to Turkey for two with the "all inclusive" system has grown from 50 to 60 thousand rubles. Moreover, Turkish hotels have not raised prices yet, but prices may change in the near future. In the meantime, tours are getting more expensive from the tour operators themselves - the more they click on the tour and choose it, the more the price grows. Market participants have noted an explosive demand for Turkey after the opening of flights - departures for the coming dates until June 26 inclusive were closed over the weekend.

It's worth reminding that air traffic with Turkey was suspended on April 15 due to the fact that a large number of coronavirus infections were recorded there. After that, prices for Russian resorts skyrocketed.
