The State Duma in the third reading adopted a law that provides for the extension until the end of 2023 of the period of application to banks by citizens, small and medium-sized businesses for the provision of holidays on consumer loans.

As Interfax notes, credit holidays for individuals and individual entrepreneurs were introduced at the beginning of the pandemic. Later, the initiative was extended to the mobilized and the founders of the LLC. The norm expired on March 31, 2022.

The adopted amendments to the State Duma were introduced by the chairman of the Duma Committee on the financial market Anatoly Aksakov. He noted that initially it was planned to prepare a permanent law on the provision of credit holidays, but the legislators did not have time to finalize the initiative. In this regard, it was proposed to extend the credit holidays until December 31, 2023.

"Proposal: the current draft law on credit holidays should be extended until December 31 of this year, but at the same time during this year I promise you, I assure you, we will finalize the basic law, which will be constantly in effect", - Aksakov promised earlier.

The bill on the introduction of holidays on consumer loans on a permanent basis passed the first reading in the State Duma in December 2022. At the same time, it was proposed to increase the maximum loan limit for which Russians can apply to the bank for a credit vacation. The publication notes that in Russia there are also holidays on mortgage loans, which were established on a permanent basis back in 2019.
