Motorized rifle units of the Western Military District have started training at the training grounds at the points of permanent deployment with firing practice. Tanks and armored personnel carriers are involved in the exercises.

According to the press service of the Western Military District, the exercises, which include training in "combat coordination of platoons, crews and crews of combat vehicles", will be held both in the daytime and at night. During training, motorized rifle units of the Western Military District will perform live firing from weapons and military equipment at training grounds at permanent deployment points.

“Infantry fighting vehicles BMP-3, armored personnel carriers BTR-82AM, tanks T-90M are involved in the firing. Also, firing is carried out from Kalashnikov AK-12 assault rifles, Pecheneg machine guns and several types of grenade launchers”, - Interfax notes.

During training at night, shooting will be carried out with target illumination, using flares, mounted lighting mines, and tracer ammunition.

Commanders will pay special attention to working out the correct actions for deployment from the traveling position to the combat position.

The military units of the Western Military District are based in the Moscow, Leningrad, Ivanovo, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kursk, and Smolensk regions.

Earlier it was reported that the units of the Western Military District began returning from long-range exercises to their bases by rail and road.

The exercises are taking place against the backdrop of an aggravation of the foreign policy situation on the Russian-Ukrainian border. Western media reports that Russia is preparing a military invasion of Ukraine, which could occur before the end of February. The Russian Foreign Ministry, in turn, refutes allegations that Russia is preparing for a war with a neighboring state.
