The air in megacities of the world has become cleaner by 30-50% thanks to the quarantine
Satellites constantly record a decrease in the level of extremely harmful nitrogen dioxide in the atmosphere.
Ubiquitous quarantine, which was introduced by almost all countries of the world, trying to stop the coronavirus pandemic, seriously slowed down the global economy, which resulted in the closure of many industrial enterprises and a significant - several-fold - reduction in traffic. All these forced measures have an extremely favorable effect on the amount of harmful emissions into the atmosphere.
Satellite data indicate that the concentration of NO2 (nitrogen dioxide) over the cities of Europe decreased by 45-50%, and especially strongly - by 54% - over Paris.
The same thing is observed in North America: at the end of March, the atmosphere over the eastern coast of America became cleaner by 30%.
