After the introduction of QR-codes in public transport in Tatarstan, passenger traffic fell by almost a third. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic Andrei Yegorov on the air of the TV channel "Russia 24".

Carriers of Tatarstan suffer colossal losses due to the decision of the regional authorities to introduce QR-codes on public transport. Due to the lack of codes, thousands of people were unable to use city buses to get to work. The consequences of the innovation were disastrous for the republic. All this led to a traffic collapse, fights and dismissals of conductors from work.

“There is a decrease, preliminary by 20-30%. But we keep this issue under control, with carriers in touch. There is an assumption that the losses incurred by the carriers will be reimbursed, there is an agreement with the president", - Novaya Gazeta quotes Yegorov as saying.

According to the official, in just one day, the codes from the metro, buses and trams in Kazan alone dropped about 1,500 people.

Outraged by the new rules, passengers without codes experienced a lot of stress and lost money as they were forced to look for alternative routes to get to work. At the same time, taxi drivers in the face of increased demand for their services have doubled the fare.

Mandatory QR codes for travel in public transport in Tatarstan have been introduced since November 22. Only those who have had covid and have antibodies, or people who have been vaccinated, can get ko. From now on, citizens without codes are denied the right to board a flight.

The innovation provoked many conflicts between passengers and controllers. The issue with the travel of people who were vaccinated with only one component of the vaccine remained unresolved. They were denied the right to travel as well as the unvaccinated.

It is expected that the scandalous experience of Tatarstan with the introduction of codes can be extended to the entire country. On November 12, the government submitted to the State Duma bills on the introduction of QR codes everywhere in Russia. It is expected that without them, the freedom of movement of citizens will be limited until at least June 1, 2022.
