Lynching by a psycho: Ryazan's region resident shot five neighbours

A resident of the village of Elatma (Kasimov District, Ryazan Region) shot five neighbours because of the noise they made under the windows. Four young men and a girl were shot dead. The shooter was detained. The Ryazan's Region IC instituted a criminal proceeding under the article “the murder of two or more persons”.

The tragedy occurred late on Saturday, April 4.

According to RIA Novosti, the investigators suspect that a man made a remark from the balcony of his apartment in a three-storey building with to a group of young people who spoke loudly under the windows in the yard. A quarrel ensued. After a verbal conflict a 32-year-old resident of the village took his registered hunting rifle, went out into the porch and opened fire. Four young men and a girl died on the spot.

Lenta.ru informs that according to the preliminary version three people were shot dead in the entrance, and then the man killed two more neighbours on the street. The victims were aged from 22 to 31 years.

The shooter tried to escape but was detained two hours later. The shotgun was found in his apartment.

According to Interfax, the suspect was mentally ill and was registered by a psychiatrist.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation posted a video from the crime scene on its YouTube channel. In a published video forensic specialists inspect the place of execution.

On Sunday, April 5, the vice-governor of the Ryazan region Igor Grekov arrived at the place of the tragedy in the village of Elatma, where he held an operational meeting with representatives of local authorities to discuss issues related to the incident.

The vice-governor of the region promised that local authorities will provide assistance to the families of the victims, TASS reports citing the spokesperson of the region’s governor Denis Arapov.
