New cases opened on violence against prisoners in Irkutsk

On January 21, during an inspection of the administrative institutions of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Irkutsk Region, the fact of illegal actions on the part of individual employees of IK-6 and illegal acts of a sexual nature on the part of the convicts themselves against the prisoner was revealed. Based on the materials of the inspection, a criminal case was initiated against unidentified persons in the department of the Investigative Committee for the region.

New inspections have helped to identify and detain suspects in these cases. A criminal case has been opened against two employees of the IK-6 operational department.

In addition, the inspectors detained the junior inspector of the pre-trial detention center, suspected of exceeding his official powers in relation to the convict.

The reason for the check was the videos that got on the Internet, in which the employees of the correctional facility and the pre-trial detention center beat and torture prisoners.

The the Federal Service for Execution of Punishment Commission is still working in the region. Deputy head of department Anatoly Yakunin arrived at the scene.

Earlier it was reported that the heads of the remand prison and correctional colony No. 6 in the Irkutsk region were suspended from work for the period of checking the illegal actions of their subordinates, the materials were transferred to the investigating authorities.
