U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland said new Western sanctions against Russia would be lifted if Moscow ends its military sting operation in Ukraine and also helps "rebuild Ukraine and recognize the sovereignty and territorial integrity of this country."

Nuland said this in an interview with TASS.

She also added that Moscow should recognize Ukraine's "right to exist" because now, according to Nuland, the Russian government "denies Ukraine's very right to exist."

When asked whether Washington was going to recognize Russia's red lines and that certain demands for its security, including NATO's refusal to grant membership to Ukraine and further expansion to the east, could not be discussed, Nuland was unable to answer directly.

- We were ready to talk about the vast majority of issues that Russia has put on the table (negotiations on security in Europe - ed.) about everything - <...> conflict prevention in the course of military activities, the reduction of military exercises. We even stated that we never had any intention of deploying offensive weapons in Ukraine,” said the US Deputy Foreign Minister.

At the same time, she added that Washington "was not going to tell another country how and with whom to enter into alliances," and Russia - to make decisions for NATO.

Previously, Nuland, like US Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, repeatedly announced unprecedented sanctions against Russia - both if the country starts a military conflict, and if it continues a special operation.

The special operation began on February 245. After that, the West began to introduce new packages of anti-Russian restrictive measures. To date, seven Russian banks have been sanctioned, and now the European Union is warning about the possibility of including Sberbank in the sanctions list. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson threatens to "squeeze out" Russia from the world economy.
