Hikmet Hajiyev, the deputy head of the Azerbaijani presidential administration, Ilham Aliyev, called the comment of the Azerbaijani ambassador in the Russian Federation Polad Bul-Bul oglu (pictured) about the downed Russian Mi-24 helicopter inappropriate.

Earlier, the ambassador, commenting on the destruction of the helicopter by the Azerbaijani military, said: "Well, in war is like in war - anything can happen".

“It is also unacceptable that the Azerbaijani ambassador to Russia said about the status of the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, without delving into the essence of the issue”, - Azertag agency quotes Hajiyev as saying.

The deputy head of the Azerbaijani presidential administration called on diplomats abroad to refrain from statements that contradict the official position of Baku.

The Russian Foreign Ministry considered the ambassador's words about the downed Mi-24 "a big mistake".

"If Russia professed the principle "in war as in war", the answer would be crushing. Moscow, however, took Baku’s words about an admission of guilt and an apology”, - RIA Novosti quotes the words of a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Let us remind you that officially Baku immediately admitted that the military had shot down a Russian helicopter by accident. An apology was made and a willingness to pay compensation was expressed. The General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan has opened a criminal case under the article "Negligence in service". A criminal case was initiated in Russia under the article "Violation of the rules of flights or preparation for them", and a criminal case was also initiated in Armenia under the articles "Murder" and "Unleashing or conducting an aggressive war."

The incident took place on the evening of November 9 near the village of Yeraskh on the border with the Azerbaijani enclave of Nakhichevan. The helicopter was shot down a few hours before the signing of an armistice agreement in the conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh that began on September 27.
