“You are not our enemy”: Biden said he does not believe in the desire of the Russians to fight with Ukraine

In his address to the Russians, Biden recalled the events of World War II, when citizens of both countries fought fascism side by side.

“To the citizens of Russia: you are not our enemy. And I don’t believe that you want a bloody destructive war with Ukraine”, - RIA Novosti quotes the words of the head of the White House.

The reason for Biden's special appeal was the sharp aggravation of the situation on the Russian-Ukrainian border. The parties accused each other of preparing mutual provocations, while both states are gathering troops to the Donbass region.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, the number of the Russian army on the border with Ukraine exceeds 100 thousand people, which raises suspicions of an impending military aggression on the part of the Russian Federation. Russia also notes the growth of the Ukrainian contingent in the problem area, and also shows dissatisfaction with the facts of arms supplies to Ukraine from NATO.

NATO countries have promised to impose tough sanctions against Russia in the event of its attack on a neighboring state.

In response, the Russian authorities denied allegations of preparations for war, pointing out that troops are moving inside the territory of the Russian Federation, to which the state has every right.

At the same time, the US authorities warned their citizens about the danger of traveling to Ukraine in connection with the possibility of a new war, and even began the evacuation of the families of diplomats from Kiev.

Against the background of the aggravation of the internal political situation, Russia and NATO have increased the intensity of military exercises, which also fuels fears that the war will soon start.
