The aim of the strikes is the same - the release of political prisoners and the holding of new elections.

It should be noted that strikes were reported at some enterprises, and a stop of production was also announced. But the authorities say the scale of the strikes is insignificant.

Earlier, the prime minister of the republic, Roman Golovchenko, reported that enterprises in the real sector of the republic's economy are operating normally.

On August 17, it was reported that the workers of Belaruskali, the second largest plant in the CIS for the production of potash mineral fertilizers, went on strike. Before that, the employees of the enterprise warned that if the authorities did not release all political prisoners by Monday, they would not come to work.

Prior to that, all workers were called upon to go on a nationwide strike as the only form of protest for which the police will not be able to arrest those who disagree with the results of the presidential election.
