Exoplanets, a division of the US space agency NASA, posted a 34-second clip on its Twitter (banned by Roskomnadzor) as proof that there are sounds in space too. “There is so much gas in a cluster of galaxies that we picked up a real sound. We amplified it and added other sounds so that you can hear the black hole, ”NASA employees are quoted as saying by phys.org .
Researchers believe that the black hole, the sound of which can be heard here, is located in a cluster of galaxies in the constellation Perseus. It is one of the most massive objects in the universe, consisting of thousands of galaxies in a cloud of gas that is located about 240 million light-years from Earth, moving away from us at a speed of 5366 km / s.
“The pressure waves sent out by the black hole cause ripples in the hot gas of the cluster, which can be translated into a note. People can't hear it, it's about 57 octaves below average C," according to NASA. To make the sound accessible to the human ear, it was changed, making it "144 quadrillion and 288 quadrillion times higher than the original frequency."
The audio clip on Twitter has received over 15 million views. Most users agreed that the sound is pretty creepy. “I accidentally turned on the record in the presence of a cat, he jumped out of the room like a scalded man, and then hissed at me. What did he hear that I don't hear?" one person asks. “These are giant space whales trying to communicate with us,” suggests another.
