According to the decision of the Tverskoy Court of Moscow, the arrest of the former Deputy Minister of Education, ex-Vice President of Sberbank Marina Rakova (pictured) has been extended for two months. Rakova is involved in a large-scale fraud case involving government contracts.

According to Interfax, referring to the court's report, Rakova's lawyers asked the court to mitigate the measure of restraint, but there were no grounds for this. To date, she will remain under arrest until at least August 6 this year.

Recall that the former official was detained last October. Investigators found out that in 2019, she, along with her accomplices, stole about 21 million rubles, which were intended for work under government contracts under the Education program. Another person involved in this case - the rector of the Moscow Higher School of Social and Economic Sciences (Shaninka) Sergei Zuev - was also arrested until June 5. Shaninka was a party to a contract under which funds belonging to the Fund for New Forms of Education Development were stolen.

In addition, it is known that Rakova entered into an agreement with her common-law husband Artur Stetsenko and Acting General Director of the Fund Maxim Inkin, as well as other accomplices. None of them plead guilty.

Note that during the investigation it turned out that Rakova also has a secret business abroad. We are talking about the company Aliki Beach for renting residential real estate in Greece. At the same time, Rakova did not have the right to own such a business, since Russian law prohibits officials from doing business. Law enforcers, however, established that the period of Rakova's ownership of this company fell precisely during her tenure as deputy minister.
