Those foreigners who have expired their residence permit in the Russian Federation or have been canceled still receive their pension until the new deadline for submitting documents.

But at present, a new register is being formed, and from 2023, everyone whose permission to stay in Russia has expired will stop receiving their pension almost immediately.

As the deputy dean of the RUDN University Faculty of Economics Yelena Grigoriyeva clarified in a conversation with the Prime agency, over the next year, the register will include new data on the population and systematize it. From 2023, the operative zeroing of pensions of foreigners will begin on the basis of an expired residence permit.

Now citizens of other countries with overdue residence permits in Russia still receive pensions because the information provided by the applicant to the Ministry of Internal Affairs takes too long for the Pension Fund of Russia.

The expert also clarified that when a foreigner retires to receive his pension it is necessary that he works under a formal contract.

It's worth reminding that in 2020, the Ministry of Economy decided to attract foreign investment to the country by issuing a residence permit after acquiring Russian real estate.

Note that the State Duma approved the bill of the President of Russia, according to which military personnel, FSB officers and federal officials should not have not only dual citizenship, but even a residence permit in another country.
