Telephone scammers steal 3.5-5 billion rubles a month from the accounts of Russians. On average, they breed citizens for 8 thousand rubles. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the words of the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank Stanislav Kuznetsov.

According to Kuznetsov, one fraudulent call center makes about 3-7 thousand calls per day, and it is possible to get through only in half of the cases. And only 1% of calls become successful for cybercriminals.

According to the Central Bank, in 2020, almost twice as many attacks using social engineering methods were committed against bank customers than in 2019. In 84% of cases, scammers contact victims by phone.

The cybercriminals manage to get the data of Russians in the shadow market for personal data - there is information from compromised databases of external services (delivery of goods, government agencies, online stores). On some sites, you can also find data on citizens' bank cards.

At the same time, Kuznetsov noted that it became more difficult for fraudsters to convince Russians to transfer money, as the cyber literacy of the population improved. Therefore, cybercriminals are looking for new ways to deceive. For example, a scammer disguised as a recruiter may offer a job and even conduct a video interview. During communication with the prospective employer, the person himself provides all information about himself, including the details of the bank card, where the salary will allegedly be calculated.

Earlier it was reported that every third Russian is afraid of being left without money after a call from telephone scammers who impose operations with bank cards and deposits. Most often, malefactors are afraid of people aged 45 to 50 years.
