Mayor of Yakutsk Sardana Avksentyeva announced her early resignation from the post of the head of the city. According to her, the reason for this decision was deteriorating health. The City Duma will decide on the resignation of Avksentyeva on January 14.

The resignation of the head of the Yakut capital from his post became known from Instagram.

"My family is seriously concerned about my health. The reason is stress and constant anxiety for the city. I must admit that I can no longer work 24/365. Tomorrow I go to the hospital, operations are coming soon”, - Avksentyeva wrote on her page.

A few days ago, she reported that she had to call an ambulance because of heart pains that were caused by a hypertensive crisis.

Early elections for the mayor of Yakutsk are to be held in spring. Avksentyeva urged to support the candidacy of her first deputy, Yevgeny Grigoriyev. She asked him to head the city before the elections.

The head of Yakutia, Aisen Nikolayev, also said on Instagram that he had discussed the probable resignation of Avksentyeva with her earlier. In his opinion, Grigorieyv will fully cope with the duties of the mayor.

Let us remind you that Sardana Avksentyeva won the 2018 elections and became the first woman mayor in the history of Yakutsk. In addition, she, the representative of the party "Revival of Russia", ahead of including United Russia Alexander Savvinov.

Experts are of the opinion that Avksentyeva's resignation may also be related to the fact that earlier the Yakut mayor called for voting against the amendments to the Constitution.

“On the eve of the elections to the State Duma, it is dangerous to leave such open oppositionists of the system in power, and Avksentyeva urged to vote against Putin’s amendments to the Constitution”, - said Ilya Grashchenkov, director of the Center for the Development of Regional Policy.

Note that in November Avksentyeva "transplanted" Yakut officials from an expensive building in the very center of the city to an inexpensive building. Earlier, the mayor of Yakutsk decided to organize a "penalty box" for stray horses.
