Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that prohibits hiring taxi drivers with an unexpunged or outstanding conviction for crimes of medium gravity and more serious crimes.

With an outstanding conviction for grave and especially grave crimes, it will also be impossible to get a job as a bus and tram driver, the law says. The law is published on the official Internet portal of legal information.

We are talking about conviction for murder, causing grievous bodily harm, kidnapping, robbery and robbery, crimes against sexual integrity and public safety of people.

Restrictions also apply to persons who have been convicted in the EAEU member countries.

According to the new law, all drivers must provide a certificate to the employer stating that they have no criminal record by March 1 next year. Otherwise, they will stop working with them.
