Alexander Gintsburg told about the "Russian" strains of covid

"The fact that in our country, and in Moscow in particular, as in other countries, there are original variants of virus mutations, that's for sure. We are now studying their properties and differences from other circulating strains", - RIA Novosti quotes the words of the scientist.

Let us remind you that the Deputy Director of the Scientific-research Center named after Gamaleya Denis Logunov reported that "Moscow" strains of coronavirus may well appear in the near future. He told Russian President Vladimir Putin about this, to which he replied that he had discussed this topic.

“Now we are monitoring [the situation] in Moscow, and most importantly, that Moscow may still have its own Moscow strains”, - Logunov pointed out.

He clarified that not all strains of covid are dangerous, but it is necessary to monitor all changes and "work ahead of the curve" to develop new vaccine options.

Before that, Alexander Gorelov, deputy director for scientific work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, pointed out that the increase in the incidence of covid in Russia is not associated with the emergence of new strains.
