The Partizansky District Court of Minsk denied Russian citizen Sophia Sapega a complaint about her detention. The meeting was held on June 14 behind closed doors.

According to RIA Novosti, earlier the detention of the Russian woman tried to challenge the defense of Sapieha, but also unsuccessfully. Now the lawyers are planning to appeal the decision of the Partizanskiy District Court. After all possible procedures for challenging the fact of detention are over, the defense will decide on the appeal of the preventive measure in the form of detention for Sapieha.

According to the lawyer Alexander Filanovich, Sapega is a defendant in two criminal cases in Belarus. One of them was initiated on May 23, the second on May 25. However, the details of the cases were not specified.

Sapega was detained on May 23 in Minsk, when a Ryanair plane flying from Athens to Vilnius was forcibly landed in Belarus, allegedly after receiving a message about a bomb planted on board. The command to land the plane was given personally by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. However, there was no bomb on the liner. Human rights activists believe that the real purpose of the plane's landing was the arrest of the founder of the opposition Telegram channel Nexta Roman Protasevich and his girlfriend, a Russian woman Sapega. They were prosecuted for organizing protests in Belarus after the elections and inciting ethnic hatred. Protasevich's parents turned to German Chancellor Angela Merkel for help.
