The head of the Russian government, Mikhail Mishustin, signed a decree to postpone the weekend in 2021, according to which December 31 will be non-working for Russians.

This is stated on the government website.

- In the new year, January 2 and 3 fall on Saturday and Sunday. Since these are non-working holidays, it was decided to postpone them to Friday, November 5, and Friday, December 31, respectively, is specified in the text of the resolution.

Also, the non-working Saturday February 20 will be rescheduled to Monday, February 22. Thus, citizens will receive three days off in a row: February 21-23 (from Sunday to Tuesday).

Recall that last year, the public actively discussed the issue of whether December 31 should be a non-working day. According to a sociological study, almost half of Russians - 48% - supported the idea of the Ministry of Labor and spoke in favor of making the last day of the year a day off. However, the authorities did not support the initiative, and therefore on December 31, 2020, working citizens will go to their jobs, if by that time they do not have to work remotely due to the epidemiological situation.
