Putin postponed May 9th Victory Day parade due to the coronavirus

The date of celebrations on the occasion of the anniversary of the 75th anniversary of Victory Day remains open.

On the eve of RBC reported on the possible postponement of the Victory Parade from May 9 to a later date, referring to its sources close to the presidential administration.

Earlier Wednesday, veteran organizations asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to postpone the Victory Day parade due to the spread of the coronavirus.

The authors of the appeal noted that the transfer of the parade will be "a manifestation of respect for veterans."

The appeal was signed by the head of the Russian Association of Heroes Vladimir Shamanov, chairman of the All-Russian public organization of veterans (pensioners) of war, labor, and the armed forces Vladimir Epifanov, head of the All-Russian public organization of veterans of the armed forces Viktor Yermakov and many others.

April 12, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova suggested that Russia would not have time to completely get out of the restrictive measures for coronavirus on Victory Day.

However, according to the Ministry of Defense, preparations for the Victory Day parade continue. Since April 1, at the Alabino training ground near Moscow, where a copy of Red Square has been recreated, rehearsals of crews of military equipment, as well as training on marching on foot military columns are held.
