In Russia, the number of fraudulent attacks on the Internet associated with COVID-19 has decreased by an order of magnitude, but the fraudulent schemes on trading floors that appeared in the last “pandemic” year are still operating, said Sergey Golovanov, chief cybersecurity expert at Kaspersky Lab.

Last year, there was a surge in cyber fraud, as people were forced to stay at home and actively use the Internet. In addition, attackers quickly responded to reports of payments, compensation and fines, quickly creating sites to deceive citizens.

As Golovanov told RIA Novosti, in 2021 these topics are no longer so relevant, which means there is no point in creating websites for them.

- The number of attacks on the Internet dedicated to the coronavirus has dropped hundreds of times, - the expert stated.

Golovanov also noted that among the popular topics today, however, there is still fraud on trading floors. He clarified that in 2020, users began to visit the Avito and Yula sites more often. On these services, fraudsters often go to sellers who are trying to convince them to follow the link, ostensibly to receive money for the goods and leave the bank card details.

Meanwhile, the percentage of cyberattacks related to "school" payments has grown. In the first half of July alone, 170 fake sites of this subject were identified.
